The Glen Site
Here are some of the questions that we often hear from our community about the building of the new site:

Q: Why did the city of Montreal delay the sewage work near the Glen?
A: If the city begins this crucial work without knowing the details about how the Glen site will be built, they risk having to alter their work only months afterward – at a substantial cost – once the final scenario is presented and construction begins in earnest.

Q: Will the Clinical Plan be compromised if the government has asked the consortiums to lower the cost of their bids?
A: Not in the least. The Clinical Plan will not be modified. There are several options for the consortiums to lower their costs without touching the Clinical Plan.

Q: Why did the Requests for Proposals not dictate every detail of what had to be built on the new site?
A: There are two ways to develop a Request for Proposals: by dictating every detail of how one wants the final plan, or by defining your needs and permitting the bidders to creatively determine how those needs can be satisfied within a defined budget.  We chose the latter, in order to solicit the best possible scenario of meeting our ambitious clinical objectives.

Q: On what basis will the winning consortia be selected?
The most important criterion upon which the consortium will be evaluated is how well its detailed proposal meets the needs of the MUHC, our patients, families and caregivers.
